The Associate of Science in Teaching Degree in Middle Grades Education (Mid-Level Social Studies) is an education specialty designed to prepare individuals to teach social studies to students in grades 6–8. The Middle Grades Social Studies AST is a two-year program designed for students planning to continue their studies toward a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. Completion of a bachelor’s degree can lead to teacher licensure in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Social Studies, allowing graduates to teach in public or private middle school settings.
