COL 101 – College Success is a required course for most new incoming students at Columbia State. This one-credit-hour course is designed to help students successfully transition into the Columbia State College environment by introducing them to campus resources, student support services, and strategies that promote academic and personal success.
While this course is required for most new students, there are some exceptions. Transfer students who have attended a sister institution or four-year institution and have already completed a comparable college success course may be exempt.
In addition, exemptions may be granted to students who:
Transfer 12 or more credit hours to Columbia State from another institution (excluding Prior Learning Assessment), or
Were previously enrolled at Columbia State prior to Fall 2016 and earned at least 12 credit hours before Fall 2016 (excluding PLA)
This exemption information could possibly be placed in a smaller section or “fine print” area of the page so that the main focus remains on explaining the purpose and benefits of the course for new students.
