Emergency Medical Services (EMS Academy): EMT, AEMT & Paramedic
(licensure eligibility & technical certificate)
The EMS Academy offers EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic certificate programs. The EMT program is the entry-level, one-semester training program designed to train civilians in the basics of medical and trauma emergencies as well as an introduction into the emergency medical services. EMTs who wish to advance their career must pass the Advanced EMT program which is also offered as a one-semester, 16 credit hour course. Advanced EMTs are eligible for employment in Tennessee public and private sector ambulance services and will learn more in-depth content including invasive medical procedures and greater breadth and depth in pathophysiology. The paramedic program is the pinnacle pre-hospital professional licensure and is a 3-semester, competitive admissions program.
