Columbia State receives new scholarship to benefit veterans
(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Nov. 20, 2017) - - - The Columbia State Community College Foundation and the Office of Veteran and Military Family Services recently met with the Unit 19 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Columbia to discuss student scholarships - the discussion ended with the establishment of the Unit 19 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship.
"It makes our members happy to know that this scholarship will help students complete their education," said Pamela Brown, Unit 19 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary president. "It is important to us to know the funds are put to good use."
The Unit 19 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary combined two of their existing memoriam scholarships with Columbia State into one. The scholarship is intended to have a positive impact on students - especially veterans and/or their dependents studying in the medical/health related fields.
"We are so happy to be able to support our veterans and show our pride in what they have done for our country," said Elizabeth Moss, Unit 19 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary treasurer.
Dr. Janet F. Smith, Columbia State president, thanked the Ladies Auxiliary for thinking of Columbia State and for making a difference in students' lives.
