Chargers Big Three Carry Team in Season Opener

Columbia, TN.- Sophomore Lamarra Gordon scored 30 points, and newcomers Alexis Lang and Porche Hannah added 20 and 16, respectively, as the Columbia State Community College Lady Chargers (1-0) knocked off the Faulkner State Community College (AL.) Sun Chiefs 80-76. It was the season and home openers for the Lady Chargers and they didn't disappoint their home fans. Head Coach Bridget Goodnight also got strong minutes from sophomores Allison Wiley and Hannah Smith. But her "Big Three" were huge throughout the contest.
Gordon scored 25 in the first half then became a facilitator adding six assists. 13 of Lang's points came from the free-throw line helping her team to a 23 to 9 edge in free-throws made. The 6-foot-4 Hannah used her length to alter shots on defense and grab 11 rebounds.
The Lady Chargers will take to the road this weekend as they take on conference foes Volunteer State and Motlow State this Friday and Saturday.
