(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Feb. 11, 2013) - - - Columbia State Community College's Cherry Theater will fill with the eccentric world of nouveau vaudeville as The Squirm Burpee Circus takes the stage at 7 p.m. for the March 7 showcase of the First Farmers Performance Series.

"The show is filled with vaudeville's comedy, circus acts and a plot rooted in American melodrama," said Molly Cocharan, director of alumni and community relations and events. "This is the perfect opportunity to introduce children to live theater, although it is designed to appeal to audiences of all ages."

No Vaudeville is complete without a plot woven into the circus acts. In Squirm Burpee, we meet Dashing Dave, with his terrible girl problems; Mike the Handsome, who never has gotten over his grade school crush; and completely geeky Little Lolo, who creates romantic chaos. Mixing up madness with the love-sick trio is Baron Vegan von Hamburger who plots to obliterate them all. Who will fall in love? Will the Baron succeed? You will have to join the circus to find out!

The Cherry Theater is located in the Waymon L. Hickman building on the Columbia campus. Individual tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
