Also, Lawrenceburg student Lisa Hasty (second picture, left) received the Lawrence County Campus Leadership Award for her volunteer work at Columbia State including the organization of food drives and voter registration drives as well as the Angel Tree program. The award was presented by Columbia State Vice President for Academic Services Dr. Cathryn McDonald (pictured, right).
"While those contributions impacted lives and are so very much appreciated, it is Lisa's mentoring of students during her time at Columbia State that makes her worthy of this award," said Cissy Holt, director of Columbia State's Lawrence County Campus.
Hasty is a December 2008 graduate who majored in Business Information Technology. She is a non-traditional student, a mother, and a grandmother who initially enrolled in Columbia State to get some skills in medical office assistant training.
She is currently employed at the Lawrence County Career Center and is returning to school this summer to begin work on her bachelor degree in business from Athens State University.
