COLUMBIA STATE ACCEPTS ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS
(Columbia, Tenn. - February, 3 2011) - - - Do you know of a Columbia State Community College alum that are stellar in their personal accomplishments, shines in their career and is an advocate for the community? If someone comes to mind, the College's Alumni Association is currently seeking nominations for the Alumnus of the Year award. Nominations for the award will be accepted through Friday, March 4, 2011.

"Columbia State has a rich tradition of graduating individuals that have gone on to achieve great success both personally and professionally," said Dr. Janet Smith, president, Columbia State Community College. "When they succeed, we all succeed and it is important that we recognize the accomplishments of our graduates."
The honor is granted once a year to a Columbia State graduate who has met criteria established in four key areas: accomplishments at Columbia State, career achievements, personal advancement and service to their community.
"The Alumnus of the Year Award is a wonderful honor that is bestowed annually to a deserving alum of Columbia State. It recognizes graduates for their accomplishments at Columbia State and more importantly what they have gone on to do in their careers and in their community," explains Beth Duffield, Columbia State's alumni relations and community events development officer.
A special committee of the Columbia State Alumni Association has been formed to review all nominations and choose the recipient of the award. In 1968, 37 students graduated from Columbia State's first graduating class. In 2011, approximately 600 students graduated in one of the College's degree or certificate programs. To date, we have more than 13,000 success stories.
