Events Free and Open To Community

Columbia State Community College's department of Access and Diversity will host a lecture titled "From Greensboro to the Age of Obama: February 1960-November 2008" presented by Mrs. Colia L. Clark, a veteran of the Civil Rights Movement and Director of Humanism Economy Rights and the Arts. She is also the coordinator of the Guadeloupe Haiti Tour USA and the USA coordinator for the International Commission of Inquiry on Haiti. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, February 10 at 11 a.m. and will conclude by 12:30 p.m. in Columbia State's Ledbetter Auditorium.

"Mrs. Clark is going to present her personal experiences throughout the Civil Rights Movement and into current events. This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions to someone who actually worked within the movement," said Christa Martin, assistant to the president for Access and Diversity at Columbia State.

Clark will share experiences ranging from the time she spent working with Civil Rights Leader, Martin Luther King Jr. and Civil Rights Activist, Medgar Evers, to the laws and experiences of African Americans during the Civil Rights Movement and her experience as a newspaper editor.

Clark will also hold a Beloved Community Conflict Resolution Workshop the same day at 2 p.m. in Columbia State's Clement building in room 122. The workshop will be a relationship building piece discussing conflict resolution and diversity. Both events are free and open to the community.
