Critical Thinking Development Day (QEP)

Please join us for our first annual Critical Thinking Development Day on Friday, February 3rd, in the Hickman building on the Columbia Campus. We have a special keynote speaker, free lunch (if you register by January 30th), and three workshops that will walk you through how to make critical thinking more explicit and purposeful in your classroom. Receive professional development hours, some good food, and great ideas! We hope you will come! Please fill out the following registration form: https://forms.office.com/r/mj7FQ69VUZ. It will allow you to select what workshops you will be able to attend and request a calendar invite as a reminder. 

The detailed schedule is as follows:

9 a.m. – 10:20 a.m.: Keynote Address by Dr. Ada Haynes (TTU), Cherry Theatre

10:30 a.m. – 11:20 a.m.: Workshop 1 – QEP 101 Everything you need to know about getting involved with the QEP, from creating a critical thinking course to accessing critical thinking course materials.

11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.: Lunch Lunch will be provided by the college for those who register by January 30th. Email QEP@columbiastate.edu with questions or changes.

12:30 p.m. – 1:20 p.m.: Workshop 2 – Tools of the Trade Using the online critical thinking rubric and accessing Online Campus critical thinking resources. Participants are invited to bring a laptop to access resources during the workshop (some desktop computer access will be available).

1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Workshop 3 – Critical Thinking Resource Round-up A round-table discussion of available critical thinking resources for higher education - with sample materials, coffee and confections.

3 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.: Closing Address & Prize Raffle
